Content Management System


What is Content Management System (CMS) ?

          The definition of a CMS is a web-based application,  that provides capabilities for multiple users with different permission levels to manage (all or a section of) content, data or information of a website project, or internet / intranet application.



Typically, a CMS consists of two elements: the content management application (CMA) and the content delivery application (CDA)

CMA element allows the content manager or author, who may not know Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), to manage the creation, modification, and removal of content from a Web site without needing the expertise of a Webmaster. 

CDA element uses and compiles that information to update the Web site. The features of a CMS system vary, but most include Managing content refers to creating, editing, archiving, publishing, collaborating on, reporting, distributing website content, data and information.

Every CMS application provides the following administration control panel or website management functionalities:


  • Add, Modify, Publish, Archive web pages
  • Add, Modify, Publish, Archive articles
  • Add, Modify, Publish, Archive press releases
  • Add, Modify, Publish, Archive blogs
  • Add, Modify, events into an Event Calendar

Especially for Ecommerce - Add, Modify, Inventory (products), description, product specifications, prices, photos, etc.View reports and statistics site data 

Create and Edit system users which have different permission levels to different section(s) of the above administration

Purpose of Content Management System

The main purpose of a Content Management System is to provide the control to create and manage multiple users with different permission levels to manage a website or a content section alone.
